Pollen forecast in UK

Hay Fever

Hay Fever

We are all enjoying the dry summer weather, however, for many it can be a miserable time. As many as one in four people in the UK are affected by hay fever, an allergy to pollen or spores. Hay fever is a common condition that affects the nose, sinuses, throat and eyes and symptoms include sneezing, a runny nose, and itchy eyes. Trees, grass and plants release pollen into the air as part of their reproductive process whilst mould and fungi also release tiny spores.

Those allergic to grass pollen are more likely to experience symptoms in the months of June and July when the pollen count is at it highest during dry warm weather and less so when it is wet or cold weather. It is a good idea to keep your windows closed in the early morning and late afternoon, when the pollen tends to rise and to shower and change when you get home as pollen can cling to your clothing and hair.

Simply Stuck has identified a few resources on the web which may help you.

Advice from the NHS

Hay fever cannot be cured completely, but there are a number of treatments available to relieve the symptoms. The NHS website has a short 3 minute video with an expert explaining how hay fever is diagnosed, its symptoms and recommended treatment.

Pollen Calendar

Most sufferers can lead a normal life without undue lifestyle restrictions but it does help to be aware of when the pollen is released. There is a free pollen calendar available that details the pollen production months for various types of trees, grasses, crops and weeds, including the peak periods. Note the timings and levels will vary from year to year depending on the weather and location.

Blackboard Stickers

We always knew that Family life was going to be different.  But I’m not sure we expected the kind of chaos that ensued.

There seems a never-ending list of “stuff” that we needs to be looked at, bought and remembered.  Everything ranging from, remembering kids activities; picking up milk on the way home from work; the car needing an MOT; School trips, uniforms need cleaning and so it goes on.

Now I am not suggesting that any one product will help save all those chores from being slipped from your memory.  But some can help.

Take for instance the Blackboard Sticker from Simply Stick.  It’s a simply fun way of writing down your very important lists.

Blackboard stickers

They come in 5 different shapes, which include; the Circle pack, the Hen, speech bubble, shopping trolley, and the square pack.  They are all peel and stick and are supplied with chalk and a duster.

The square and Circle pack come win a set of 4.

Now , what was I supposed to remeber to get on the way home from work?????

If your family is anything like mine then a little bit of chaos is always present.

Last School Term So Label Everything

It's the Summer Term

It's the Summer Term

The children are back to school for the final term before they break up for the summer holidays. The second half of the summer term tends to be packed with outdoor activities such as sports days, school outings, interschool athletics and swimming galas. There are plenty of opportunities for the kids to mislay clothing and belongings so it is more important than ever to remember to label up summer clothing and sports bags to ensure their safe return.

Simply Stuck have also come up with a great labelling idea for those more vulnerable to allergic reaction during outdoor activity or away day trips.

At Simply Stuck all name tags, stickers and labels are easy to customise and there are plenty of funky and groovy styles to choose from.

Allergy Alert Stickers for Hay Fever

To alert carers and teachers to your child’s allergy, Simply Stuck have introduced Allergy Alert stickers which are ideally suited for labelling travel bags and medication packs.

Girls will love the flower, heart, horse, and butterfly shapes and boys can choose a football, rugby ball, car, truck and rocket motif.
