Back to School Backpacks
Well, the school holidays are nearly over, only the August Bank Holiday to go and then the kids will be starting back to school.
Hopefully, by now you are nearly sorted with buying new school uniforms. However if you haven’t, check out our recent blog post on buying school uniforms this Summer. There are lots of great bargains to be had with many of the major supermarkets and retailers offering some very good discounts.

Once you have got the important items like school uniform ticked off the list you might be thinking about replacing school backpacks. We have had a quick scout around the web and here’s our quick run down of some of the school bags you can find in the High Street stores this year.
Ben 10 School Bags
Boys just love the Ben 10 cartoon action series so why not treat them to a school bag of their favourite hero. This bag reflects the price tag and is certainly well designed and the quality of printing is very good. It perhaps isn’t the biggest of bags but will accommodate most kids and the bits they need to take to school.
Designed for small children from 6+.

For the girls High School Musical or Hannah Montana are still very popular with a great range of bags and matching accessories.
High School Musical Backpack
The High School Musical 3 Despatch Bag in Red is a bag that will keep any young girl happy.Comes with a PVC front cover, zipped compartment and adjustable shoulder strap. It is fairly large being 350mm x 330mm x 60mm so you can get quite a lot of bits in this one.
Ideal as a school bag for any HSM fan and there are lots of matching products such as purses, handbags, umbrellas and school folders.

It sounds like one little chap was so happy with his bag that his Mum couldn’t prize it off him all day.

It’s one of those things that most parents put off for as long as possible – “oh, we’ll just give it another week”.
However, partly due to the poor weather and an afternoon at home with the kids we decided to start shopping for school uniforms early this week.
Many of the clothing retailers try and encourage parents to shop early by tempting us with special offers on school uniforms – and just looking around the stores and online, there are some great savings to be made. If you do decide to start early not only are the shops a little bit quieter, but you also have the pick of the bunch when it comes to sizes.
Here’s our quick run down of some of the school uniforms you can find in the High Street stores this year.

British Homes Stores (BHS) School Uniforms
The BHS Back to School range offers a choice of traditional uniform items to the more fun and fashionable. Girls blouses start from just £3, skirts from £3.50 and the classic pinafore from £8. For teh boys there are individual shirts start at £3 or if you are looking for a junior uniform set (shirt and trousers) you can buy these from £16.
BHS school clothes are also sized with their new “Fit the Nation” scheme. From ages 4-16 they offer a range of Generous Fit schoolwear which has more room around the chest, waist, hips and thighs, and is approximately 30% bigger than their standard range.
A great choice if you want to get an extra couple of months wear out of your kids uniforms this year!

Marks and Specncers School Uniforms
This year M&S have launched an even bigger range of school uniforms and back to school wear. Complete uniforms from £6.50 – that is a polo shirt, jumper and trousers (or a skirt) – bargain!!
There is also a range of plimsolls and shoes that means you can get your entire outfit from top to toe in just one store.
Don’t want to leave the house – M&S are offering free delivery on school items – so just enter the code “SCHOOL09″ at the checkout and grab your delivery discount!

Sainsbury’s School Uniforms
Sainsbury’s have some great value schoolwear on offer this year. The new Tu clothing range includes a uniforms from just £2. White long-sleeved woven shirts from £4 for 3, Black front-pleat trousers from £5 for 2. All of the back to school trousers are stain repellant and hard wearing.
New this year is a great kids fleece. Ideal for school and also helping the environment – its is made from eight 1-litre plastic bottles. Prices start at £4.
Unfortunately, you can’t buy any of these items online – so you will have to pop into the store.

Asda School Uniforms
Asda have alsways been one of the leading Surpermarket when it comes to kids clothes and this year their school uniforms follow that trend. A fantastic range by George including shoes sportswear and coats. A particular favourite of our is the girls belted blouse from just £6.
Lots of great technology also included to help us parents such as teflon easy iron shirts and stain resistant trousers. There is also a good choice of styling including boot cut girls trousers for the more fashion conscious.
Prices start from £2 for shirts, £4 for jumpers, £3 for skirts and £3 for trousers. Oh, and there is also free delivery on school uniforms!

Tesco School Uniforms
Tesco have a grate range this year with lots of offers available in store. Unfortunatel, you can’t buy online so it does mean a trip to the shops.
Muddy knees will be a thing of the past now that selected Back to School products are treated with two new finishes – Dirt Defence and Stain Protector, which minimize the damage to clothing and make washing uniforms less of a chore!
One of our favourites is the Girls wool coat that looks great with its embrodiery details. Prices start from £18.
A Boys 3 pack of Easycare short sleeve shirts starts at £3.

Debenhams School Uniforms
This year Debenhams is launching an extensive range of top grade school uniforms. There are lots of great offers and they are currently running a 50% off promotion on selected items when you buy online.
If you happen to have older children that are now too big for many of the kids sizes, Debenhams are now offering school uniforms in small adult sizes.
Skirts and pinafores start at just £3.50 and boys trousers start from £3.60.
